About the event

What’s Ice Dyeing all about? All Fiber Reactive dyes need just three things.
First, the fabric,
Second, a dye activator; soda ash which makes the dye permanent on the fabric
Third, ice/snow to dissolve the dye and move it through the fabric.
The ice acts both as a carrier of the dye powder as it melts, but it also slows down and changes the reaction time so that the dye
reaches different parts of the fabric at different times and that’s what creates the simply delightful surprises when you unveil
your piece.
What you will learn:
Dyes and chemicals that you will use
Safe studio practices, how to set up your dyeing area
Equipment such as measuring cups, colanders, etc.
